Jenni & Andrew's Garden wedding photography in the Blue Mountains

Updated: Aug 14, 2018

There is one word that comes straight to mind for this wedding....romance...

Jenni & Andrew's wedding day was filled with love and laughter, family history and special bonds. The Blue Mountains is close to our hearts so this was an extra special day to be involved with as the official wedding photographers.

When it comes to a wedding venue the most beautiful, heartfelt celebrations come from the family home – a place where so many memories have already happened, with so many still to come, always seems like the most magic spot to say the I do’s.

Jenni and Andrew chose the beautiful mountain home of Jenni’s parents for their Blue Mountains garden wedding. Choosing us as their professional wedding photographers to capture the beautiful setting as the day unfolded.

Jenni reminisces about the story of how she and Andrew met. “We met about 5 years ago when Andrew started work on the same team as me. We were colleagues first, and a strong friendship formed in the work group. After some months I think we both knew this was more than friendship, but it wasn’t until a few people started asking if we were together that we both realised we weren’t hiding it as well as we thought. A relationship started and we never looked back…”

We were thrilled with these lovely words about our wedding photography...“Sarah and Andrew were great and helped us capture the day perfectly! They got to know us both before the wedding and what was important to us and our families. They were such a calming and fun influence throughout and was completely patient with us! We wanted someone that knew the mountains well, and Sarah certainly took us to some great spots for location photos.  Sarah and Andrew suggested Lincoln’s Rock in Wentworth Falls which gave us a spectacular backdrop for beautiful photos with our closest friends. We were able to have some fun with them while capturing great photos that also highlighted our love of the Blue Mountains.”

Our bride wore a strapless gown from Jack Sullivan. She tells “After trying on so many dresses, as soon as I put Polly, by Jack Sullivan, on I knew that was the dress I would wear. I loved that it had a figure hugging, champagne dress underneath with a see-through ivory lace skirt which showed the beautiful embellishment and features.”

Jenni walked down the aisle to “Songbird, by Fleetwood Mac, sung by a family member along with the harp. This was one of my Dad’s favourite bands which helped us remember him at this important time.”

Jenni and Andrew chose St Francis Xaviers Catholic Church, Wentworth Falls for their ceremony. Jenni remarking “For the ceremony, we went to a local Catholic Church that on was on a beautiful back street in Wentworth Falls. We wanted a fairly laid back ceremony that captured the people most important to us.”

Guests celebrated at the bride’s family home, Jenni saying “We wanted the reception to be at my parent’s house in the Blue Mountains, as it has a great deal of family significance with very happy memories. It has an amazing view over the Jamieson Valley which was great for our guests visiting the area and the newly rebuilt house gave us plenty of areas and spaces to use to make the evening a great party.”

The wedding reception was just gorgeous and had such a special atmosphere. Jenni remarks “We love watching the sunset behind the mountains and knew it would be so special for our guests, so we really wanted to make it a key feature of the wedding. Everything was timed perfectly so that our guests would be looking out onto the balcony for the Groom, Best Man & Maid of Honour speeches with the sun setting slowly behind them.”

Wedding suppliers can make or break your wedding day and of her wedding suppliers Jenni says “All of our wedding vendors were great, and we picked people we liked so that each one contributed to the fun party atmosphere. Our wedding band was absolutely amazing, they were totally flexible with our timing and got everyone, from every generation up and dancing. Adrianna, our florist made each venue look outrageously beautiful and modern and was easygoing and so generous with her time. Nothing was too hard, and she was completely excited about the theme and I was more than happy to give her creative license after we met! Paulie, our hair and make up artist was an absolute gem who I felt totally confident with throughout the day. He made the hours before the wedding fun, all about the girls and I and everyone looked amazing.”

In our opinion, special people and special moments are what make memories on the wedding day whether they are here with us or not. Jenni wanted her Father to be a special part of the day telling us “As my dad is no longer with us, we were able to include him in the day by having the wedding in the house that he helped design and build. We used some off-cuts from the house for features like the sandstone whisky bar and granite cake stand and table numbers to make the house and wedding come together.”

Our couple chose a first song to get the dancing started, Jenni remembers “We asked the Hype Band to play “Don’t stop believing” by Journey. It wasn’t necessarily the first dance, but we wanted a fun night with something to get people on the dance floor, where this is always a sure bet”.
